Psalm 13: Matthew 26:36-46.

How do we keep praying with certainty when it seems that the Lord is either not listening and so our prayers go unanswered, or when the Lord doesn’t seem to have listened properly and so our prayers are answered differently to how we had intended?

Perhaps the clue is in the question! When we are able to humble ourselves before the Lord in prayer, the certainty becomes less about us being convinced that we know best, and more about being totally sure that the Lord’s ways and His timing are right, even when we would have done things faster or differently. Perhaps it will help us to realise that Jesus experienced His own unanswered prayer, yet He still trusted that all that was ahead needed to happen. We can hold onto unlimited hope in prayer as we trust the Lord.
