The central message of Obadiah is a warning against living for ourselves, caught up in our own self-style security and protection. The message is focused on Edom’s confidence in themselves and the strategic location of their territory. They felt good about themselves and looked down on everyone else. Their self-seeking ways gave no space for the Lord’s ways. In the bigger scheme of things they were small and insignificant, filled with pride and complacent. The message of Obadiah is simple: that way of living is destined to lose everything. But when we live beyond ourselves, our perspective changes. Instead of being self-focused, we become others-focused. That’s what happens when we let God build His kingdom, rather than trying to replace His ways with our own.

There is a small piece (about 50 seconds) missing from the end of the recording. The reason is being investigated.
