Luke 4: 14 – 21. The whole purpose of our growing and learning together as disciples, is for our own spiritual development, as well as to be good news to others. You can’t have one without the other!
Luke 11: 1-13. Do we give as much time and attention to prayer, as we do to commenting on and analysing worship styles and song choices?! A growing church will be a praying church!
Galatians 5: 16 – 26. A disciple of Jesus is someone who is learning to allow the fruits of the Spirit to grow in their life. We don’t do that in isolation, but as we’re “doing life together”
Philippians 2: 1-18. If our attitude isn’t the same as that of Jesus, we won’t grow more and more into His likeness. Unless that is happening, then what we reflect of Jesus will be limited. Music and spoken words at end of sermon used by permission through CCL licence 709. Tim Hughes & Rob […]
John 13: 31-38. “By this, all people will know that you are my disciples – if you love one another”. Hebrews 13:8. As we think about the start of a new school year, with all the changes that brings, our link back to “Signs of hope through the Bible” will be Jesus – “the same yesterday, today and forever. All may change, but Jesus never, Jesus is the same”. God’s unfolding signs of hope carry […]
Psalm 45; Isaiah 53:1-12; John 1:1-18; Acts 2:22-41. We come to the end of our brief skip through the Old Testament and focus on the One to whom it all points. Promises of a king to sit on David’s throne are found alongside images of a Suffering Servant. There are also specific prophecies which give […]
Ezra 1:1-7; Psalm 126; Luke 24:13-35; Acts 1:1-11. The old hymn says: ‘God moves in a mysterious way His wonders to perform’ – like working through a pagan emperor to bring the Jewish exiles home and restore Jerusalem. (The books of Ezra & Nehemiah tell the story, which is also behind several prophetic books.) As wonderful […]
