Hebrews 12: 1 – 29.

There is no better way to persevere in faith as followers of Jesus than to respond to and live by this encouragement: “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith” (12:2). From encouragement to persevere in faith, the writer of Hebrews adds an exhortation to “strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees” (12:12). Our motivation to do that is added to by reading that following Jesus doesn’t lead us to a place of “darkness, gloom and storm” (12:18), but rather to “the city of the living God” (12:22). How can we refuse such an opportunity? Instead, “be thankful and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe” (12:28).
