Joel.

Biblical scholars suggest that there is a parallel between the gospel parable of the prodigal son, and the message of Joel. In both, the main emphasis is one of turning back and knowing blessing. Joel 2:12-17 reflects this thought, and in the rest of chapter we have the Lord’s answer: protection (2:20-22, 27), restoration (2:25-26) and blessing (2:29-32).

When we read the message of Joel that was to a nation in crisis, through the lens of faith, we are mindful that our restored life comes to us through Jesus. The message of the Lord through Jesus is the same as His message through Joel: “Return to Me with all your heart… I will provide for you… I will protect you… I will restore you… I will fill you with My Spirit… It’s not too late for you”.
