Matthew 6:7-13, Luke 11:3

“Give us our daily bread” is about being open to the Lord providing us with what we need to sustain our lives. That’s quite different to asking the Lord to give us what we want. As we pray for the Lord to provide in the ways that He sees best, we need to trust Him.

That provision might be

  • about what we need personally.
  • about the provision the Lord wants to pour out on His church.
  • about the Lord’s provision that enables us to bless someone else, rather than holding onto to what He gives us.

When we pray – not if, but when – we are better placed to see and understand God’s provision and blessings for us and those around us.
