What is Hope 08 all about? Hope 08 is an exciting Nationwide Churches Together initiative. It involves local Churches, other charity organisations, County and District Councils and Police Forces. Hope 08 aims to encourage more people to be involved in thier local communities in all sorts of different ways. To that end, Churches Together in Bromsgrove are taking an active part in this Nationwide initiative.

What's HAS BEEN AND STILL YET TO HAPPEN for Hope 08 in Bromsgrove?

There are five key areas to Hope 08 and the following gives details of what is being planned in Bromsgrove within each of the key areas.

1. Fresh Hope - January & February
   2008 begins with the opportunity for parents to come along to 'Parentalk' (click on the word Parentalk for more info)
   
   
2. The Big Hope - Easter
   Good Friday March of Wintess (Friday 21st March)
   Good Friday evening events as advertised by individual churches
   
   An Easter Card for Bromsgrove. Look out for an Easter card through your door at the beginning of March. We are planning to deliver 20,000 Easter cards which will not only give more information about Hope 08 and activities but also details of what's going on in the churches during Easter.
   
   
3. Hope on the Streets - May 10th & 11th - 'Pentecost Weekend'
   During this weekend we will be encouraging everyone to 'get involved' and be a part of the Nationwide initiative called 1,000,000 Hours of Kindness. Across the UK people will be involved in all sorts of practical jobs in their villages, towns and cities, for example, litter picking, cleaning a dirty river, cleaning graffiti or some general clearing up.
   
   'Pentecost Sunday' May 11th - Family Praise in the Park.
   Held in Sanders Park Bromsgrove at the Bandstand. It will be fun, interactive and it most certainly won't be 'boring!' Time to be confirmed.
   
   Family Worship: 2:30pm - led by Bromsgrove Baptist Church
   
   Following the family worship there will be a bouncy castle, face painting and balloons to celebrate.
   
   Salvation Army Band: 3:15pm
   
   
   May 12th-16th is also Christian Aid Week
   
   
4. Hope Explored - September
   Various, 'user-friendly' courses will be launched so that people can have the opportunity to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed and informal atmosphere, and rest assured, there are 'no-strings-attached!' Courses being planned are Alpha, Glad you asked, Christianity Explored and Emmaus. More details to follow.
   
   
5. The Gift of Hope - December - Christmas
   There are three exciting initiatives being planned.
   
   Firstly, there is going to be a Christmas card for Bromsgrove. The design on the front of the Christmas card will be chosen through a Christmas Card Design competition in the middle and senior schools of Bromsgrove.
   
   In September pupils will be asked to design the front of the town Christmas card. There will be four year groups, years 5-6, 7-8, 9-11 and 12-13. There will be a winning design chosen from each of the year groups and then one design will be chosen as the overall winner which will be the front of the town Christmas Card for Hope 08!
   
   Secondly, the Hope 08 Musical 'Joseph'. This is going to be a wonderful musical but will need lots of people to get involved in all sorts of different ways. For full details  and how you might get involved click this word.....'JOSEPH'
   
   Thirdly, "Community Carols in the Park" - Saturday 20th Dec.
   Sanders Park Band Stand. 6-7pm.
   Followed by Mulled Wine, Hot Chocolate & Mince Pies.
   An opportunity to come along and sing six traditional carols with six readings and a ten minute Christmas reflection. Why not come as a family, or after Christmas shopping and make this part of 'getting ready for Christmas'?
